After five months on the Whistleblower team, handling such topics as insurance disputes, hookah lounges and Amtrak strandings, Kelly Smith has moved to another assignment in the Star Tribune newsroom. She's now covering the towns surrounding Lake Minnetonka for our West Metro news team.

Taking her place is a familiar name: Jane Friedmann, a member of the Whistleblower team since 2009, creator of the Hard Data column and a good deal of our other Whistleblower content. She will follow up on reader tips, peruse public records and write the Sunday columns that have appeared in the Star Tribune since 2008. Jane is already well known among Minneapolis and St. Paul restaurateurs for her columns about health inspections, while she recently delved into the worlds of vanishing remodelers, dubious "free" offers and a psychologist who crossed the line.

While the team is moving from two reporters to one, Whistleblower will continue to offer weekly columns, regular blog posts and a clearinghouse for your news tips. As always, we want to hear your suggestions about what we should investigate. You can contact us at whistleblower@startribune.com or 612 673-4271.
