Coverage: Jeffery Trevino case

  • Jeffery Trevino, 39, was convicted in October of one count of second-degree murder in Kira Steger’s death. Steger, 30, was last seen on Feb. 21 and her body was recovered on May 8 from the Mississippi River.

St. Paul Police Sgt. Paul Paulos said Friday that a special tip-line number — 651-560-3277 — had been set up as police look for clues from the public into the disappearance and presumed murder of Kira Trevino, 30, shown in the top poster with her husband, Jeffery Trevino, 39, who is in jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Neighbors said the Trevinos were polite but kept mostly to themselves, except for a summer bonfire they hosted at the home they moved into about a year and a half ago.

Keri Anne Steger fought back tears as she spoke about her sister, Kira Trevino, Wednesday at a hotel in Bloomington. Kira’s car was found in a remote parking area at the Mall of America. Trevino’s mother, Marcie Steger, is at right; her cousin, Cassie Guyton, is at left.
