ThreeSixty Journalism is a teen journalism program at the University of St Thomas in St. Paul. The nonprofit effort uses summer camps, after-school classes and other programs to strengthen the civic literacy, writing skills and college readiness of Minnesota teens and bring their stories to the larger community. It also distributes a quarterly magazine of work by Minnesota teens that is distributed free of charge to schools, libraries and youth organizations.
These articles and photos were produced by 11 high school students who participated in ThreeSixty’s residential journalism camp from June 16 to 28. All of their work addresses the topic of teens and technology. A beginners’ camp will start July 8.
All the stories and videos, along with more fine work by Minnesota teens and details about ThreeSixty Journalism, can be found online at www.threesixtyjournalism.org.
With the support of community partners and donors, ThreeSixty brings diverse voices into journalism and related professions and uses intense, personal instruction in the craft and principles of journalism to help teens. Volunteers from a variety of media organizations assisted with the camp. Supporting media organizations include the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Star Tribune, WCCO, KSTP, KARE, Minnesota Public Radio and Weber Shandwick.
