Brainiacs invited to St. Cloud State to test gray matter

Last update: April 1, 2008 - 3:05 PM

Go figure.

That's what St. Cloud State University is inviting hundreds of middle- and high-school students to do Thursday at the university's 41st annual Mathematics Contest.

For a sixth straight year, the math festivities will include a simultaneous chess exhibition, during which consulting Prof. Ray Bagley of St. Cloud's Computer Science Department will face up to 50 players at the same time. The Mathematics Contest offers a one-hour written exam to students in six divisions for grades 7-12. Individual and team awards will be given, along with freshman scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend SCSU in the fall.
