A snowmobiler died as a result of injuries from a Feb. 26 crash in which his machine ran into a tree on the Gunflint Trail in northeastern Minnesota, authorities said Friday.
Michael J. Hendrickson, 41, of Grand Portage, Minn., died at St. Mary's hospital in Duluth on Wednesday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
A 50-year-old woman who was a passenger on the snowmobile suffered a broken leg, the Sheriff's Office said.
Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash, authorities said. Hendrickson had drunken-driving convictions in 1993, 1994 and 2003.
