What's cooking: Sup with Shakespeare

As part of an exhibit opening in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts' Tudor Room, the institute is offering a glimpse into foods of the Shakespearean era. At 11 a.m. Dec. 13, a free public lecture will explore the evolution of English banqueting. The Minnesota Cultivated Wild Rice Council is one of the more unassuming food councils, so it's nice to share when they make some news. In this case, it's the results of their third annual "Get Wild With Wild Rice" contest. A Minnesotan, Anne Lauer of Hugo, took top honors with her wild rice and sausage frittata. Recipe correction

Due to incomplete information in the "Pure Vanilla" cookbook, the recipe last week for vanilla nougat candy bar bites lacked directions about when to add the vanilla and vanilla bean paste. Mix them in after the first addition of syrup. The corrected recipe is online at tinyurl.com/a9ur5sg.
