LAKE PEPIN ART TOUR

Pick up a pepper or a painting at the 11th Fresh Art Spring Tour this weekend in the scenic Lake Pepin area of western Wisconsin. Art lovers can browse the local artists' studios and galleries, stocked with watercolor and oil paintings, pottery, stained glass, multimedia works and iron and glass yard art. Stop by the Hilsgen family farm in Maiden Rock for goat cheese and natural fiber woven rugs. Tomatoes, peppers, herbs and perennials will also be for sale. The self-guided tour is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. For a brochure, go to www.freshart.org or call 1-715-442-2419.

DO IT NOW

If your tulips, daffodils and hyacinths are past their peak, you can cut back the flower stems, but leave the foliage in place until it yellows and wilts. (The foliage helps feed the bulb so it can bloom beautifully next year.) If you hate the look of wilted foliage you have two choices: 1. Interplant your spring bulbs with early-blooming perennials. 2. Cut the foliage as soon as the flowers fade and be prepared to plant a new batch of tulips every fall.

HOT TICKET

Who says fantasy camps are just for jock wannabes? Now there's a camp for those who get more excited about floor plans than fly balls.

It's an Architecture Fantasy Camp in the heart of Frank Lloyd Wright Country, held in the drafting room of his Oak Park Studio in suburban Chicago. Hosted by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, the camp will be held June 13-16, and again Aug. 1-4 and Oct. 3-6. Participants will work with professional architects to learn basic drafting techniques and produce floor plans of their dream creations. Campers will also tour Wright's home and studio, as well as his renowned Unity Temple and Robie House, considered a masterpiece of Prairie-style architecture. At $900, camp isn't cheap, but it's a bargain compared with most fantasy camps offered by professional sports teams. And you're less likely to injure yourself at the drafting table. NEXT WEEK

Instead of just one ASID Showcase Home, two Minneapolis dwellings will get the designer treatment: the Lake of the Isles home of adventurer Dan Buettner and an upscale condo overlooking Lake Calhoun.
