What is a CSA?

Most community-supported agriculture (CSA) agreements, or crop shares, cost $300 to $600 and provide a weekly share of seasonal vegetables starting in May or June and continuing through September or October. Some farms offer an optional winter share. In addition to fresh seasonal veggies, some local farms also offer honey, fruit, flowers, eggs, wool, meat and other specialties at extra cost.

How to join

More than 80 Minnesota farms are offering crop shares this growing season. Many sell out by late May or early June, but some shares are still available, particularly from newer growers who are still getting established.
