Free salad now, three more for later

All 32 area locations of Noodles & Co. are offering a free, freshly made summer salad ($6 to $8 value) to the first 50 people in line on Thursday (June 7). Three choices will be offered, including back-yard BBQ chicken with fresh corn, spinach and fresh fruit with blue cheese and balsamic fig, and chili-lime ginger with seared chicken. The 50 recipients also get three coupons good for salads through August. Most of the restaurants open at 10:30 or 11 a.m. To find a Noodles nearby, go to www.noodles.com/locations.

Knife and sharpening specials Those who put kitchen knives in the dishwasher pay the price of having to sharpen them more often. But Eversharp makes it easier during its annual tent sale. Regular knives are sharpened for $1 each, serrated knives $2, and household scissors $4, with a limit of 10 per visit. The factory store will also sell a Classic set of six Wüsthof Trident knives and block for $229, regularly $580. At Amazon, the sets sell for $300, but 100 of the sets that Eversharp is offering are also signed on the block by Harald Wüsthof, the seventh-generation member to run the German family business. A new Wüsthof 8-inch offset deli/panini knife with a Blackwood handle sells for $79 at the sale ($160 at Amazon). The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at 344 NE. Taft St., Mpls., 612-379-1300, www.eversharpknives.com.

Contemporary, traditional furniture clearance The annual warehouse sale from Blu Dot contemporary furniture will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the warehouse (13098 George Weber Dr., Rogers, 612-782-1844, www.bludot.com). Save 50 to 80 percent on a sale even bigger than last year's, said Medora Danz, vice president of sales and service. There will be plenty of dining tables, desks, sofas, stools and side chairs, but fewer beds. Those looking for a Woodrow or Nook bed should line up a couple of hours early. Blu Dot, known for its good service, gives everyone in line a map of departments in the warehouse and offers free coffee and pastries to the early birds.

The Sale Room at IMS in Minneapolis, which sells high-end furniture, rugs and accessories at discounts of 50 to 80 percent, is adding a second location. The newly opened Annex at 813 Glenwood Av. is across the street from IMS at the former Roam Interiors. It has a large number of overruns, prototypes and discontinued furniture from a North Carolina warehouse, including manufacturers Belle Meade, Julian Chichester and Patagonia upholstery.
