This is the time of year when parents are spending (way too much) time wondering what to get their child's teacher. As a retired educator who has kept all my meaningful mementos, I can tell you that I have saved almost every note of gratitude I was ever given over a 30-year career. On the other hand, the apple-themed pencil holders, mugs, boxes of candy and other sundry items that were given to me over the years, are long gone (and forgotten). This year, consider giving your child's teacher a simple note of appreciation. I guarantee you, that it is a gift that will be treasured for years to come.
