Good morning, commuters!

The winter wallop has begun and so have the crashes. Already at this early hour we have a long and growing lists of spin outs and crashes.

Roads are partly covered with a thin blanket of ice and snow, and with snow forecast throughout the day, conditions are only likely to deteriorate. The best advice is to leave plenty of time to get to your destination, and leave plenty of distance between you and the next vehicle.

Here is where some of the problems are at the moment:

  • Westbound I-94 inside the Lowry HIll Tunnel
    • Eastbound I-94 at Elm Creek Blvd. in Maple Grove
      • Westbound I-94 at Hamline Avenue in St. Paul
        • Southbound 494 at Bailey Road in Woodbury
          • Eastbound 94 on the ramp to southbound 494 in Woodbury
            • Southbound I-94 at Broadway in MinneapolisI

I'll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
