Peerenboom, James P. age 68, passed away December 26, 2018, from complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare, progressive neurodegenerative brain disease that increasingly impacted his vision, balance, mobility, swallowing, and speech. Jim fought hard since his diagnosis in 2014 and always handled the disease with dignity and grace. His participation in a clinical trial through the University of Minnesota and brain donation upon passing exemplified his commitment to research for an eventual cure for PSP. Jim earned his Bachelor's and Master's in Nuclear Engineering and PhD in Decision Analysis, all from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, before beginning a long and distinguished career of 32 years at Argonne National Laboratory. As the founding Director of the Infrastructure Assurance Center (IAC), he devoted his life to working on critical programs designed to protect our nation's infrastructure. When he wasn't working, Jim enjoyed woodworking, photography, home projects, hiking and biking. Jim touched the lives of many, and will be remembered for his unparalleled kindness, friendship, and mentorship. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert V. Peerenboom, and mother, Rosalie D. Peerenboom. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Taffy; daughters Kate and Laura (Shane Cody); and six brothers and sisters and their families. A funeral and celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Parish Center of the St. Joseph Catholic Community of New Hope (8701 36th Ave N., New Hope, MN 55427). Visitation 10am, Mass 11am, with Luncheon and Celebration of Life to follow. Please come with memories to share. Memorial donations may be made to CurePSP to help continue Jim's fight against PSP. kozlakradulovich.com "A Celebration of Life" 763-416-0016
