The Tony Awards were last night, and like all big awards shows it's one-half self-congratulation - what a wonderful industry we are! - and one-half shameless promotion. All those numbers are designed to get you into a plane and off to New York. They're not about theater in general, either, as the Washington Post points out:
On the other hand, who cares? The point of the show is entertainment, and if you're a fan of musical theater it had moments galore where people strutted around and expressed innermost longings in song form. Such as Glee stars MAtthew Morrison and Lea Michele:
