Linda Perry in studio in “Make or Break: The Linda Perry Project.”

Out of order

WE TV is jumping into the original-drama game with a bunch of heavy hitters. Writer Richard LaGravenese (“Bridges of Madison County”) and “Scandal” prez Tony Goldwyn are the team behind “The Divide,” an intense look at how flaws in the justice system could be putting the wrong people behind bars. 8 p.m. WE

A true sports hero

Drake hosts the 2014 “ESPY Awards,” in which Minnesota is represented by Lynx standout Maya Moore in two categories. New this year is the Pat Tillman Award for Service, which will be given to Paralympic sled hockey player Josh Sweeney, who also received a Purple Heart. 8 p.m. ESPN

Hit maker

She’s written and produced monster hits for Christina Aguilera and Pink. Now, in “Make or Break: The Linda Perry Project,” she shares her talents with a new generation of potential pop stars and takes us into the studio where she exercises her tough love. Beware of her wrath if you’ve never heard of her ’90s band, 4 Non Blondes. 9 p.m. VH1
