Harvey takes aim

Harvey Weinstein says his next film will make the NRA “wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them. It’s going to be like crash and burn.” Titled “The Senator’s Wife,” it has a star — Meryl Streep — but as yet no writer or director. … Robert Redford says his Oscar snub for “All Is Lost” was the result of bad marketing by Roadside Attractions and Lionsgate. … Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Oscar winners for “The Social Network,” will compose the score for David Fincher’s “Gone Girl.”

Axe it, she said

The wrath of Angela Lansbury proved to be too much for NBC, which killed the “Murder, She Wrote” reboot starring Octavia Spencer. … FX has ordered a project featuring Zach Galifianakis, who will co-write with Louis C.K. FX also announced “How and Why,” created by Charlie Kaufman (“Adaptation”) and starring Michael Cera and John Hawkes. … The rest of the “Glee” season will be set exclusively in New York City. … The third season of “The Newsroom” will be its last, HBO said. … NBC’s next live musical, a la “The Sound of Music,” will be “Peter Pan.”

The guest list

Jimmy Fallon’s guests on his first “Tonight Show” Feb. 17 will be Will Smith and U2; Amy Poehler will inaugurate Seth Meyers’ “Late Night” on Feb. 24. Really!?!

CYNTHIA DICKISON

Don’t mess with Kid

Kid Rock wrote an op-ed piece in the Detroit Free Press opposing the elimination of Michigan’s no-scalping law. He said: “I’d rather take a pay cut than have to see my fans pay outrageous amounts just to watch me perform.”

Un-Wanted

Sorry, girls, the Wanted are breaking up at the end of their upcoming tour. Sorta, kinda. “The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as the Wanted,” a statement said, “and look forward to many successful projects together in the future.”
