"The Last Five Years"

The Last Five Years

Opening: Britta Ollman and Bobby Gardner (pictured) are featured in Jason Robert Brown’s musical that tracks a young couple from the joy of discovery to the heartbreak of saying goodbye. Ollman is a longtime singer/actor who most recently played the lead in Latte Da’s “Violet.” Gardner has been pretty much full-time at the Brave New Workshop for the past several years. The show is the inaugural production of FLiP Theatre, a company put together by John Lynn and Ben Bakken. Jason Hansen (“Aida,” “Alive and Kickin’”) is music director. (8 p.m.Fri.-Mon., Thu. Ends Nov. 10., Minneapolis Theatre Garage, 711 W. Franklin Av., Mpls., $19.99, www.fliptheatre.org.)

Princess Diana, The Musical

Opening: Actors Theater of Minnesota is bringing back this show, which was a hit last summer at Camp Bar in St. Paul. The musical was a labor of love for playwright and composer Karen Sokolof Javitch, who wrote a song cycle to express her grief over Diana’s death in 1997. The songs string together the story of Prince Charles and Diana from their courtship to their divorce and then to the princess’ demise. (7 p.m. Fri.-Sat., Thu., Camp Bar, 490 Robert St., St. Paul, $24.50-$34.50, www.brownpapertickets.com.)
