Thursday-Sunday: John Adams' 2007 "Son of Chamber Symphony" is a wry exercise in self-one-upmanship, its Frankenstein analogy absolutely intended. Portuguese conductor Joana Carneiro, who was here in mid-February and looks increasingly like an artistic partner-in-waiting, returns to the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra to lead the work's local premiere. Flanking the Adams are a Dvorak Nocturne for strings and Beethoven's best Piano Concerto, No. 4, with fast-rising Israeli-American soloist Shai Wosner.
