Tapping the Hopkins market

Brewery openings continue to fan out across the metro area. Last weekend Hopkins got its first suds maker (you always remember your first). LTD Brewing Co. opened its taproom in the city’s downtown with a handful of beers, including a solid Irish dry stout. LTD, which stands for Live the Dream, plans to start growler sales soon and gradually distribute kegs to nearby bars, said co-owner Blake Verdon. LTD almost landed in northeast Minneapolis two years ago, but after losing a lease a week before signing, Verdon and his partner, Jeremy Hale, headed to the western suburb.

People on the river

The long-windedly titled Mattie St. Clair’s House of Spirits on SE. Main Street is now open in the old Kikugawa space on St. Anthony Main. Helmed by the Wilde Roast Cafe owners and pal Brian Gilligan, the nicknamed Mattie’s on Main is a loosely brothel-themed bar and restaurant, which in lieu of prostitution peddles adult milkshakes, 16 local (or local-ish) tap beers, pizzas and burgers. The renovated space features a significantly bigger bar and a stage for live music.

Next to nude

In other now-open news, the Office Pub & Grill is up and running in the North Loop. With ownership ties to neighboring nudie joint Déjà Vu, the new sports bar abuts the 18-plus strip club. The Office promises plenty of flat-screen TVs, 20-plus taps, a nearly 1,200-square-foot patio and dude-bro punch lines about staying late at the Office.

Up all night

If you can make it through the entire up-all-night art fest Northern Spark, power through sleep deprivation with a pancake feed from the Bachelor Farmer’s Paul Berglund and Al’s Breakfast. The all-star chef and iconic greasy spoon are teaming for a droopy-eyed grub fest at Aria with seatings at 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Jacquie Fuller of the Current will be spinning records, and multimedia artist Miwa Matreyek performs.

Turnt Up turns 4

Monthly hip-hop-rooted dance party Turnt Up! celebrates its fourth birthday Friday at Honey. As always, expect DJs Willy Shu, Gabe Garcia and host/wag gospel-spreader Franz Diego to set the hand-clapping, high-hat-loving party off on the second Friday of the month with a high-energy mix of rap bangers, bounce, moombahton and anything else that fits the frenetic vibe.

10 p.m., Fri., $5, 21-plus, 205 E. Hennepin Av., Mpls., 612-746-0306,
