OneRepublic, not to be confused with One Direction, are confirmed for the Jingle Ball.

OneRepublic, not to be confused with One Direction, are confirmed for the Jingle Ball.

Top 40 station KDWB (101.3 FM) has announced the date, location and two of the acts performing at its annual Jingle Ball, but the rest of the performers are under lock and key so the DJs have something to talk about other than Justin Bieber all this week. OneRepublic and Conor Maynard are the two names announced so far. The show will take place on a school night, Dec. 4, at Xcel Energy Center. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and Xcel Center outlets for $27, $27, $57 and $103.30.

The arena location and rather steep top-tier ticket prices have us thinking the station has heftier star value in its lineup this year than usual. Heftier than the two already announced, anyway. With that in mind -- along with the shape and color of the blurried photos on the official KDWB Jingle Ball site, as well as online chatter -- here are some of the unnamed candidates we think might round out the bill. Emphasize “might.” We really don’t have the inside scoop.

PSY?: Jingle Balls are great for 15-minute fame flameouts, which is the sure fate of this South Korean rapper behind the year’s “Macarena”-like dance hit “Gangnam Style.” He’s also on the lineup for Los Angeles station KIIS’s own Jingle Ball. It would at least be nice to get him here given our rich Southeast Asian population in the Twin Cities.

ELLIE GOULDING?: The “Lights” hitmaker is also playing the KIIS Jingle Ball a few nights earlier, is overdue to perform in Minnesota, and she’s not due back in England for more shows until the following week.

CHER LLOYD?: As pointed out by others online, one of the photos looks a lot like the 19-year-old alum of England’s “X Factor,” whose single “Oath” is rising up the KDWB playlist.

Ed Sheeran: Call him a maybe.

Ed Sheeran: Call him a maybe.

ED SHEERAN?: The station has also given A-level rotation to the 21-year-old “A Team”-singing British songwriter, who just packed the State Theatre last month. He’s free that night and is playing yet another event named Jingle Jam in Duluth, Ga., the following week. Who knows: It might be the year the Brits invade Jingle Ball?

TRAIN?: KDWB might takes its cue from sister station Cities 97, which had these guys pack the Basilica Block Party this past summer as headliners. The “50 Ways to Say Goodbye” hitmakers are also performing at the similar Not So Silent Night concert in Las Vegas two nights earlier.

KE$HA or ADAM LAMBERT?: Oh gawd, let’s hope not. But these meisters of gaudiness are also making the radio-show rounds and need more attention.
