The Parker Quartet announced a six-concert series in the Twin Cities this winter and spring. Each concert program will be performed twice, once in Minneapolis at the MacPhail Center and once in St. Paul at the SPCO Music Room.

The Parker has been quartet-in-residence with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra for the past two seasons. The new concert series is being done in collaboration with the SPCO.

The Parker, which began touring professionally in 2002, won a 2011 Grammy for its second recording, of music by Gyorgy Ligeti. Its first CD featured music of Bartok.

While they tour extensively, members of the quartet -- Daniel Chong and Karen Kim, violins, Jessica Bodner, viola, and Kee-Hyun Kim, cello -- are based in the Twin Cities.

"Over the past three years, the Twin Cities have really become home to us," said Karen Kim, "and we're thrilled to be able to share our passion for chamber music and the string quartet repertoire with our own community."

The first concert, with music of Debussy, Beethoven and Kirchner, is Nov. 3 at MacPhail and Nov. 6 at SPCO Center.

The second concert, with music of Mozart, Schumann and Dutilleux is March 22 at MacPhail and April 1 at SPCO Center.

The third concert, with music of Mozart, Janacek and Beethoven, is May 12 at MacPhail and May 20 at SPCO Center.

Tickets to the series are available for $30 per 3-concert package. Series packages are now on sale through the SPCO website at www.thespco.org/parkerquartet, as well as through the SPCO ticket office at 651-291-1144. Tickets to individual concerts will be available beginning on October 1.
