Patterson Cos. announced that the head of its Animal Health segment, John Adent, will resign effective July 1 "to pursue a leadership position outside the company."
News of his resignation comes three weeks after Scott Anderson stepped down as the company's chief executive and former CEO James Wiltz stepped in as interim leader of the Mendota Heights-based maker of animal health and dental products.
Adent was chief executive of Westlake, Texas-based Animal Health International from 2004 through its acquisition by Patterson in June 2015. Adent has been head of the combined animal health businesses of Patterson since the $1.1 billion deal closed.
Kevin Pohlman has been named interim president of Patterson Animal Health. Pohlman joined Animal Health International in 2001 and was most recently vice president of sales and marketing.
For the year ended April 30, revenue from the Animal Health segment represented 56 percent of Patterson's overall revenue of $5.6 billion.
Revenues from the Animal Health segment grew 10.4 percent for the year, while revenue of the Dental segment fell 3.5 percent.
In a statement, Wiltz said he looked forward to working with Pohlman and added, "I also want to thank John for his commitment and dedication to the integration efforts within our Animal Health business. We wish him well in his future endeavors."
