Phil Miller is returning to his Big Ten roots to follow Minnesota’s football fortunes for the Star Tribune after a decade of chronicling the NBA and Major League Baseball. The Illinois native began his writing career by covering Utah football for six seasons, and still insists that 12-1 Florida stole the 2009 BCS Championship from the unbeaten Utes.

Greetings.

Gophers coach Tim Brewster, in an interview with David Shama for his Minnesota Sports Headliners website, said he has not had contact with anyone regarding the open job at the University of Kansas. "I have not spoken with anybody," he told Shama. "I have no interest in any other job besides the University of Minnesota."

There will be media access with the team later this afternoon. I'll get back to you after that.

Was there no contact? Chances are we'll never really know. But I know this: There are ways for feelers to be put out without a coach being personally involved. Did that happen in this case? I don't  know. But now Brewster is on record as saying he's not interested in any other job.

That's about it.
