Dorm deals done cheap and easy

In a word, Target. This week, Target has its 13-piece dorm-in-a-bag on sale for $50, regularly $70. The 13 pieces include a twin XL sheet set, comforter, sham (a fancy pillow case, for the uninitiated), a standard pillow, a laundry bag, two bath towels and four washcloths. The three color choices are blue, brown and gray plaids, all masculine. Target is also selling twin XL microplush blankets for $18 and even a bedbug protector for $30.

Other stores such as Wal-Mart and Kmart have bedding in a bag too. Wal-Mart has a twin XL mattress pad, pillow and comforter for $40, but in plain white. White in a dorm room?

If you want more choices than Target or Wal-Mart, the best selection is at PBTeen, although at higher prices. Also check JC Penney, The Company Store and Bed, Bath & Beyond. All have a good selection of twin XL merchandise, although the prices aren't as low as Target's sale this week.

For guys wanting one-stop shopping, Target or Target.com is a time saver. Gals and guys wanting to mix and match in high style should check out PB Teen.
