The University of Minnesota has licensed technology that can analyze the habits of online gamers to a Los Angeles start-up.
The start-up, called Ninja Metrics, says its software can help online gaming businesses identify trends, key players and estimate when a user might cancel an account.
The software was developed by University of Minnesota computer science and engineering professor Jaideep Srivastava and University of Southern California associate professor Dmitri Williams. Northwestern University professor Noshir Contractor was an advisor on the project.
The National Science Foundation, Air Force Research Labs and the U.S. Army has funded the research.
