Vice President Joe Biden is coming to town today to raise money for the 2012 presidential race. He's hosting a private fundraiser at a home in Minneapolis, where Gov. Mark Dayton is scheduled to attend. Dayton's only other public event occurs at midday when he buys his fishing license in anticipation of the fishing opener this weekend.

The state Senate is expected to vote today on a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage in Minnesota. The House has not yet voted on the measure, which would be on the 2012 ballot. Dayton, who opposes it, has no voice in the matter, because amendments go onto the ballot without the governor's signature.

Both the House and Senate are in session today and the higher education conference committee continues to work through its bill.
