Letter of the day: Misconstruing Coulter's comments on Jews

Nick Coleman, like many other journalists of late, loves to take quotes out of context to support his own biased agenda. Lazy journalism seems to be the norm these days.

Ann Coulter's "perfected" Jew, noted in Coleman's Oct. 14 column, is in reference to Christian doctrine -- specifically writings of St. Paul in which he argued that Christianity is the perfection of Judaism. St. Paul stated that Christianity was the religion "foretold by the prophets" and that "those who did not believe Jesus was the Messiah, were not the true people of God." One could argue that Christianity by its very nature is anti-Semitic then.

Coulter may be politically incorrect and caustic to boot but she is no fool. And the fact that Coleman doesn't see what she was trying to do here makes me wonder who the fool really is.

Ann Coulter is not anti-Semitic. Coleman knows that and so do I. Distorting the truth does neither Coleman nor his readers any service. He should do his homework next time!
