Minneapolis Downtown Council President Mark Stenglein is out after one year on the job.

The former Hennepin County commissioner from Minneapolis said Wednesday he is looking for a job.

“It’s time for me to move on,” he said.

His brief tenure contrasts with his predecessor Sam Grabarski, who held the job for many years.

Stenglein said he met with the council’s executive committee on Monday and that he and they “decided to part ways.”

He said the job wasn’t a “good fit” for him, but wouldn’t detail why.

The council, a force in city and state politics, works to represent businesses in downtown Minneapolis. The council’s president is a prominent presence in state and local politics from stadium issues to street cleaning.
