He’ll be there for you
Few TV actors show as much range these days as former “Friends” star Matt LeBlanc, simultaneously starring in CBS’ by-the-books sitcom “Man With a Plan” and Showtime’s “Episodes,” a nasty sendup of show business that’s heading into its final season. LeBlanc’s willingness to demonize his most famous character, Joey, is so admirable that you’ll almost forgive him for agreeing to return this fall to his thankless role as a lunkhead father.

Instant karma
Medical series have become as routine — and discomforting — as physical exams, with most of them following pretty much the same prescription. “The Good Karma Hospital” doesn’t break new ground, but by setting the action in southern India, this British export seems fresh and innovative. The drama will invariably draw favorable comparisons to “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.” The digs aren’t quite as lush, but you’ll be glad you checked in.

People of Earth
The flight of the Voyager may be NASA’s most ambitious, eye-opening journey. It’s also one of the most impersonal, since no human being actually got on board to boldly explore new worlds. “The Farthest — Voyager in Space” cracks the code by focusing on the scientists and researchers back on Earth whose enthusiasm for the endless mission is palpable.
