Solo

Dancers aren't typically in the driver's seat when it comes to creating work, unless they happen to be choreographers as well. That's what makes the McKnight Foundation's Solo fellowships so unique. Dancers get to choose a choreographer with whom they work to create a solo piece highlighting the dancer's talents. This weekend's program features the 2014 and 2015 winners. Some chose local choreographers — for example, Minnesota dancer Kenna-Camara Cottman chose her longtime collaborator Deja Stowers. Others plucked choreographers from other cities, even other continents. Sally Rousse chose London-based choreographer Arthur Pita. And Alanna Morris-Van Tassel, pictured, chose Israel-based Idan Sharabi. (8 p.m. Fri.-Sat. $25. Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av., Mpls. 612-206-3600, thecowlescenter.org.)SHEILA REGAN

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
