Average price paid per tooth by the Tooth Fairy, according to a survey by insurer Delta Dental:

The dental index appears to correlate with macroeconomic trends. For example, average Tooth Fairy payments decayed by 3.8 percent in the year after the 2001 recession and the 9/11 attacks.

Other highlights:

96 percent of respondents said they were visited by the Tooth Fairy as children.

97 percent indicated that the Tooth Fairy visits/visited their children.

Parents of today's children say they received an average of 75 cents for a lost tooth when they were children.
