Yes, Aug. 5 is National Oyster Day (who knew?), and while this downtowner isn't marking the occasion with a street fair, it's doing the next best thing: offering a freebie. As in, a half-dozen complimentary oysters with the purchase of any lunch or dinner entree. Can't make it on Friday? Dive into $1 oyster day, every Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.

For its 10th annual summer block party, owner Kim Bartmann is teaming up with the Growler to stage "In Cahoots!" A dozen local breweries will pair off and collaborate on a one-of-a-kind beer, and partygoers will vote for their top three favorites, via FairVote Minnesota's ranked choice ballot. Expect to encounter picnic foods — brats, burgers, fish tacos, pulled pork sandwiches — plus a big live music lineup. Aug. 14, 2 to 8 p.m., no cover.
