Hair colorist Tony Castro breaks down the best in celebrity hair color.

NEW YORK HAIR "Very conservative blond, like Sarah Jessica Parker."

L.A. HAIR "It has a lot of different colors, like Reese Witherspoon."

MINNESOTA HAIR "It's just white," he said, citing Pamela Anderson. "Here, everybody is white. They were like that when they were 5, but now they're 35. It makes you look older. You don't need multicolors, but you shouldn't be white," Castro said. Hair stylist Frédéric Fekkai agreed. "The totally platinum look does not work for most women, and requires way too much maintenance," he said. REDS Castro likes Debra Messing as the model for red baliaged hair. She gets it done at Frédéric Fekkai.

BRUNETTES Salma Hayek and Demi Moore don't necessarily need baliage, though you can add dark shades for added richness. Lots of celebrities, including Emily Blunt, above, have recently gone darker.
