Linda Brown Duffy, age 76, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2024.

She was the consummate advocate, selflessly thinking of and caring for others in her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and nurse. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert ("Bob") Duffy, her parents Dr. Kenneth and Margaret Brown, and sister Elizabeth ("Betty") Connor. Survived by her children Courtney (Dan) Shaughnessy & Devin (Julia) Duffy; her grandchildren Finley & Eva Shaughnessy and Quinn, Jack & Maeve Duffy; her nephew Mike Connor; and dog, Chulo.

Born in Stratton, NE, Linda graduated from the University of Nebraska and received a nursing degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1970. She began her career as a critical care nurse at the VA Medical Center in Omaha. In 1974, she met the love of her life, Bob. The couple moved to Bloomington, MN in 1978, where they raised their family for over 40 years. Linda transferred to the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis where she continued her work as a nurse before eventually transitioning to roles in the hospital's administrative office.

Upon moving to the Twin Cities, Linda and Bob found a spiritual home at St. Joan of Arc, an inclusive community that welcomed them on their journey. In 1983, Linda gave birth to her "Minnesota Twins," Courtney and Devin. Linda had a life-long love of cooking, traveling, and enjoying wine with her friends and family. Her values of peace, justice, compassion, and inclusivity were Linda's north star, and she passed those values along to her children and, eventually, her grandchildren.

Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020, Linda tenaciously fought the disease with grace. She didn't let the diagnosis affect her life. In between treatments, Linda could be found hosting dinner parties with friends, attending grandkid's sporting events, and traveling throughout Europe, South Africa, and around the US.

Linda lived a beautiful life in which she always led with love. She loved her kids and her grandkids fiercely and was so proud of them. We are comforted in knowing that she has reunited with her Bob and will always watch over her friends and family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 15th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Community (4537 3rd Ave. S, Minneapolis, MN).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Linda's name to: Arm in Arm in Africa, P.O. Box 3425, Minneapolis, MN 55403 (online at aiaia.org) or the St. Joan of Arc Outreach Fund, 4537 Third Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419.
