Rickert, Lucille age 100, passed away in her home surrounded by family 5/17/24. Born in Duluth in 1923, Lucy Sembla grew up in south Minneapolis. In kindergarten at Clinton School she met Terry Rickert. They started going steady in eighth grade at Bryant JHS, where they were notably "swell dancers." Lucy was tied academically for third in their graduating class of 325 at Central HS Class of January 1942. She and Terry both served during WWII and married in 1946. In 1957 they moved their family of four children into the brand new house in Brooklyn Park, where she lived happily until her death. Lucille had a 22 year career at General Mills, where she made many friends. During their inspiring 64 years of marriage, but especially post-retirement, Lucille and Terry enjoyed traveling, garage-saling, eating ice cream, reading, Sunday night family pizza parties, "smidges" of dessert, and nightly Happy Hours. She was a consummate lady, always wanting to look her best and often receiving compliments on her beautiful skin, even from strangers. (Her tip: moisturize) She was articulate, intelligent, quick-witted, courageous, resilient, kind, generous, thoughtful, and known for her tender smile. Terry predeceased Lucille in 2010. They live on in the hearts of their 4 children Gail (Mike) Mayfield, Terry (Lynne) Rickert, Kathi (Paul Eaves) Rickert, and Brian (Caren) Rickert; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and additional loving relatives and dear friends. The family appreciates the support of North Hospice, particularly the tender care and kindness of RN Elinor Hughes and HHA Jennifer Cole. Even exceeding the joy she received from flowers and her garden, Lucille found true satisfaction in helping others through generous charitable contributions. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Habitat for Humanity or a local food shelf. A Celebration of Life will be held later.
