Jan age 89, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, in Naples, FL surrounded by family. Jan Weiser was born June 23, 1934 in Hastings, NE, to Ivor and Evelyn Samuelson. After Trumbull High School, she attended Hastings College and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1955. She became a second-grade teacher and married a navy pilot, Peter Vinsant, with whom she eventually moved to the Minneapolis area to raise their three children. After arriving in Minnesota, Jan became a fashion consultant and professional model, doing runway, print and TV commercials, for over 30 years. Jan remarried in 1979 to the love of her life, Bob Weiser, to whom she was joyously married for nearly 40 years - until Bob's passing. Bob and Jan split their time between Shorewood, MN and their primary residence in Naples, FL. Jan always had a creative and colorful eye, whether designing clothing or jewelry, curating bold art, making floral arrangements, or styling her loved ones. She had an infectious energy and spunky spirit that she brought to her roles on the boards of her beloved communities of Port Royal, Royal Poinciana, and Minikahda Club. She is surely already organizing parties as Social Chair in Heaven above. To her grandchildren, Jan was simply known as "Rhubarb", their ever-loving grandmother. Jan is survived by her children Ron (Nancy) Vinsant and Diana (Bob) Davis; grandchildren Michael (Christie) Davis, Stephanie (Blake) Williams, Rachel Davis, Ivor Vinsant and Aris Vinsant; great-grandchild Scottie Davis; and siblings Joel (Karen), (Marlene), and (Kathy) Samuelson. Jan was preceded in death by her daughter Valerie Vinsant; spouse Bob Weiser; her parents Ivor and Evelyn Samuelson; and her siblings Bonnie, Bob, and Dick Samuelson. While Jan did not wish to have a memorial service, memorials are welcome to a charity that she loved to support in Naples, the Shelter for Abused Women & Children at 239-775-3862.
