Plathe, Craig V. 77, resident of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Tonka Bay, MN, passed away on January 19, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 10:30 am at St Martin's By-the-Lake Episcopal Church, PO Box 38, 2801 Westwood Rd., Minnetonka Beach, MN 55361. Interment of Craig's ashes will follow at St Martin's Memorial Gardens. Following the interment, a light lunch will be served for family and friends. Craig was born December 22, 1946 in St Paul, MN, the first born of Vince and Marcella. He graduated Madison High School and then Moorhead State University with a degree in Business Management. On February 8, 1969, Craig and Beverly Frye were married in Madison, Minnesota. He worked for the City of Minneapolis Assessor's Office until his retirement in 1998. As a registered nurse Bev worked in hospitals throughout the Metro area. Buying their home on Gideon's Bay was a highlight for them. They loved living at the lake. Life was busy, entertaining in the front yard and gardening in the back. Extended family looked forward to the annual July 4th camp out. Tents were pitched in the front yard with a view of the lake. Time passed quickly with conversation & games, including volleyball, croquet, and water sports. The weekend was capped off by a water's edge fireworks display, impressive and maybe a little dangerous. Craig and Bev travelled across the world to East Asia, Europe, Australia, North and South America. Their adventures are documented in many photo albums. Tragically, Bev passed away in 2005. After several years, Craig moved to The Villages, and immersed himself in the many activities that were available. He met Elizabeth, and the calendar filled up with dances, swimming, golf, cruises, concerts, theatre, billiards, parties, and more golf. He was at home in the Sunshine State. Craig served six years as a member of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 151st Field Artillery, attached to the Minnesota National Guard, Madison MN. Hunting with family and friends was a favorite fall activity. Throughout his life he stayed in touch with his Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity brothers and other long-time friends. May he rest in peace. Craig is survived by his son David (Rosalba); sisters, Mary Wallace; Susan (Larry) Marsolek; Elizabeth (Charles) Schmoker; brothers, Patrick (Gail); Paul (Christine); eleven nieces and nephews and Elizabeth Brown, with whom he shared a committed relationship. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly; his sister Margaret, and brother-in-law Mark. To view the service via Zoom us02web.zoom.us/j/…
