Allison, John W. moved on to eternal rest having enjoyed 101 years of life. Raised in small town Minnesota to a grain elevator family John was exposed to hard work, family values and trains at an early age. Heeding our nation's service call he witnessed the horrors of combat in a vanguard unit at the infamous Remagen Bridge battle. His love of technical things led him to engineering at the U of MN graduating to a life-long career with Honeywell. While at the University he met his future wife, Ursula Vonnegut, also a WW II veteran. They married in 1947 raising 3 children - John, James, Jean - in beautiful South Minneapolis. John loved fixing his own car, photography, amateur radio, helping his neighbors and dog walks to Lake Nokomis. Upon retirement he was an ardent volunteer, Minneapolis Parks supporter and women's basketball fan. Wife Ursula too enjoyed long life passing recently at a spry 97. They are survived by their children, grandsons Daniel & Christopher, friends and beloved neighbors. Having experienced war John would ask our leaders to work tirelessly for peace.
