Williams, Evan B. born April 26, 1930, passed away Dec. 23, 2023, at age 93. Born and raised in North Minneapolis and educated at Carleton College, he enjoyed a fulfilling career at Cargill, Inc. where he helped to found the Salt Division in the 1950s, and eventually served as its president. He also oversaw Cargill North Asia for 3 years before his retirement in 1995. He and his beloved wife Diane saw their 3 children, Leigh, Judd and Eric, into adulthood. He loved singing in the St. Luke choir, playing basketball and tennis, traveling and camping and spending time with family and friends. He was quick to offer help of any kindfrom doing dishes to serving on volunteer boards and as the Honorary Consul General of Japan for the Upper Midwest. He would quietly pick up the bill at dinner, and then invite his guests to treat someone else in the future. He lived a life filled with gratitude and optimism. He is predeceased by his parents Elorine (Fruetel) and Irving Williams; wife Diane (Larson); and is survived by his 3 children, Leigh (Richard Grinnell), Judd (Rachelle Teese Williams) and Eric (Martha Anderson Williams); grandchildren, Evan Leif, Russell, Jane, Joe, Larson and Rafe; and his dear companion Sue Kirchoff. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on January 10 at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3121 Groveland School Rd, Wayzata, MN. Visiting with family from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Luke. A reception will follow the service.
