Rice, Mark Affectionately known as caller "Mark from St Louis Park" on AM 1280, passed away at the age of 65 on November 21, 2023. Preceded in death by parents Marlene and Herman Rice; brother Steven Gregory Rice; grandparents Abe and Ann Armel, Rose and Sam Rice; uncle Norman Armel, and all Mark's beloved animal friends. Mark is survived by sister Gloria (Tim); brothers, Ed (Tess), and Ron; nieces Mattea and Lilah; nephews Simon and Elliott; aunts Ruth Weisberg (Mort), Leemona Armel, and DeDe Armel; and many cousins and friends. Mark graduated from the University of MN with a BA in political science. He also graduated from a paralegal program. Mark was brilliant and talented, but modest about it. He was fiercely independent. Mark was proud he did everything on his own. He managed the family business and then owned his own business. Our family was generously rewarded because of Mark's decisions. Since childhood Mark was a collector of many things including sports memorabilia, rare stamps, and hot wheels. He was a passionate "foodie". His illness prevented him from eating his favorite foods, but he still enjoyed spending hours looking at photos of food online. He was a lover of nature, especially feeding the birds. Mark was an excellent athlete. He excelled at basketball and tennis, playing in many tournaments. His favorite summertime activity was swimming at Cedar Lake on those warm summer days. He respected and helped the underdog. Mark was a loyal son, brother, nephew, and friend. He was willing to help those in need, but rarely asked for or wanted help for himself. Mark will be forever missed and forever in our hearts. Funeral Service 10:00 am on FRIDAY, November 24th at the UNITED HEBREW BROTHERHOOD CEMETERY CHAPEL, 2605 W 70th 1/2 Street, Richfield.
