Klonoski, Mary (Haake) passed away October 16, 2023, in Burnsville due to heart failure. She was 85. She was born December 19, 1937, in Winona, MN, to Arnold and Clara (Olson) Haake. She graduated from Winona High School and received a bachelor's degree in international relations from Washington University in St. Louis. She married James Klonoski in 1960 and they moved to Eugene, Oregon. In Eugene, Mary advocated for open housing and for women's rights. After her divorce in 1977, Mary returned to Minnesota and worked for Target for 20 years, reaching the level of senior financial analyst. After leaving Target, Mary was an administrator at Family Networks until her retirement. The not-for-profit agency provided mental health services for adolescents and their families. Mary did volunteer work for nearly 30 years at the homeless shelter of St. Stephens Church, providing recreational activities for the guests. She also served as treasurer of the Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ. She is survived by a son Tom (Halina) Klonoski of Skokie, Illinois, and a daughter, Dr. Katherine (Brad) Emershad of Scottsdale, Arizona, along with grandsons Brett and Justin. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm November 18th at First Congregational Church, 500 SE 8th Ave., Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agate Housing and Services in Minneapolis or to Planned Parenthood.
