Sallman, Robert James age 92 of Shoreview, MN and formerly of North Oaks and St. Anthony Village passed away peacefully on June 6, 2023. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty, who he faithfully cared for during her courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Also preceded in death by parents Hugo and Agnes Sallman, brother Ken and son-in-law Brent Blackey. Survived by daughters Jennifer Patton (James), Karen Blackey and Mary Cook (Mike); grandchildren Jonathan Patton (Ali), Michael Patton, Erika Dwyer (Steve), Adam Blackey(Cecily) Jenny Milne (Tom); Drew Cook (Liz) and Alyssa Cook; great-grandchildren Barrett, Knox, Addi, Tommy, James, Brooks and William. Bob graduated from Edison High School in 1949, where he dated his future wife Betty. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War in 1951-1953. In 1954 he returned to the University of Minnesota to complete his college education. Bob married Betty Rosell in 1954 at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis where they remained active members for 65 years. Bob started his career at Marquette Corporation in 1956 and was ultimately named Vice President of Administration. In 1974, he joined the Webb Company and was named President and CEO in 1982. In retirement, Bob and Betty traveled extensively and spent winters in Marco Island, Florida. He loved going on walks and working outside in his yard. Bob was an avid reader and was the family resource on WW2 history, a special interest of his. In the past several years, he enjoyed being part of the Incarnation Lutheran Church Book Club and was thankful for them welcoming him into their group. Bob was an involved and loving father and grandfather. Throughout his life, he was an extremely kind person who treated everyone with respect. Bob and his family would like to thank all the staff at J.A. Wedum Hospice for their exceptional care and friendship over the last months. There will be a private family celebration of life.
