Hansen, Roger "Pete" 90, was born December 18, 1932, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at home with his wife and a big bunch of his loved ones nearby. He was known for his friendly disposition, easy smile and helping hand. He loved his family, woodworking, cribbage, tinkering in his workshop, and learning new things! Pete was a special man, loved and respected by all who knew him. Pete served with the US Army. He spent most of his work life at NSP as a Lineman and then a Troubleman. As a helpful hero it was a job that suited him well. Pete always had a few things going on the side: he was groundskeeper, fix-it and handy man for many and was always available to anyone anywhere who needed help. As an expert woodworker, he created beautiful birdhouses, cribbage boards, ornaments, toys, and many other trinkets to sell - but mostly to give away. Pete married his high school sweetheart Anne Heno and together they raised six children. They were inspiring, lifelong, loyal, and loving companions. In his retirement Pete enjoyed working and socializing with the Excelsior Men's Garden Club, playing, and winning Cribbage games in the community, learning new things via YouTube, and reading a new western novel every day. Pete is survived by his wife of 70 years Anne and children Charlie (Patty), Elizabeth (John), Don, Jennifer (Chip), Helen (Trygve), Christa (Tim), 15 grandchildren who love him fiercely and 16 great grandchildren, sisters Bonnie (Ernie) Wepplo and Julie Buik. Preceded in death by parents Roger and Helen Hansen, sister Mercedes Andrada. The Funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Friday June 16 at St. John The Baptist in Excelsior. Visitation one hour prior with a luncheon to follow.
