Miller, Rosemary Fish M.A. age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 3 in Edina, Minnesota with immediate family by her side. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Rosemary (Rosy to so many) was a dedicated wife and mother, caring friend, and lifelong educator. After early stints teaching high school and college, she dedicated her working life to early childhood literacy and education. Rosemary served as the editor-in-chief of Growing Times, an early childhood parenting newsletter with wide distribution in St. Louis, Missouri, and, after moving to the Twin Cities, took great pride in her role as the founding program director of America Reads at the University of Minnesota, a literacy tutoring program that exists to this day. A voracious reader with a wonderful sense of humor, Rosy was an eager world traveler whose many trips spanned every corner of the globe, from China and Thailand to Cuba, Brazil and beyond. Upon her retirement Rosy spent time with her husband, family, and many friends, continuing her travels while doing her best to corral husband Bob's endless orchid collection. Rosemary held dear the lifelong friendships she developed with so many across the country; at the time of her death, close friends from her years living in Baltimore, Maryland; Buffalo, New York; St. Louis, Missouri; and the Twin Cities all mourn her passing deeply. Rosemary was preceded in death by husband Robert (Bob) Miller, parents Rittenhouse and Lucille, and mother-in-law Ettie. She is survived by sons Derek and Drew (Stefanie), brother Rit (Brenda), sister Stephanie, sisters- in-law Cynthia and Cathy, niece Nicki (Randall), nephew Eric (Tiffany) and countless other dear friends and extended family. Her remains will be interred at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis beside Bob, her husband of fifty-two years. Burial and a celebration-of-life memorial will be held beginning at 1 p.m., April 14 at Minneapolis's Lakewood Cemetery and Garden Mausoleum. All are welcome.
