Hoyt, Susan L. Susan Louise Hoyt was a loving and proud mother, wife, sister, friend, grandmother, and public servant. She died peacefully in her home on December 23rd, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was 73 years old. Susan is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Steven Taff; her three children, Anne (Tim), Nancy (John), and Tom (Kristyn); and three beloved grandchildren, Nancy Bree, Michael, and Sloane. Susan was part of a close-knit and loving family, which extended to include her four siblings, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Harvey Hoyt. Susan grew up on the shores of Lake Johanna in Arden Hills before living in both LaCrosse and Madison, Wisconsin, where she met her husband in 1973. They married in 1976 and moved to the Twin Cities in 1985. Susan leaves behind a legacy of public service. She held an unshakeable belief in the importance of doing good work, which for her involved decades of serving as an administrator in numerous Minnesota communities, including her hometown of Falcon Heights, Dakota County, Northfield, Lake Elmo, and the Met Council. Susan also believed in the importance of family, in recognizing both life's challenges and joys, and in rearranging the furniture frequently. Susan was proud of her service on the board of HealthPartners and her leadership role with the League of Minnesota Cities, and was an ardent supporter of several community organizations. Susan was a welcoming and thoughtful woman who formed deep friendships wherever she went, including within the community of Padua, Italy, a city she adored and visited frequently. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Susan's legacy in the late spring. Memorial donations can be made to places doing "good work."
