Chase, John Age 88, of Bloomington, died June 21, 2022. John was born in St. Paul, the son of Gebhard and Mary Chase, and grew up in Hopkins. After graduating from St. Louis Park High School in 1951, he attended Carleton College where he also participated in hockey, football and track. After graduating, John joined the Army serving as a medic in Germany. In Minneapolis, a few years later, John would meet his future wife, Bonnie. They married in 1960 and eventually settled in Bloomington where they raised their family. Around the same time, John started working for State Farm Insurance Company where he was employed until he retired nearly 40 years later. John had a kind and steady heart, a quiet strength and a dry sense of humor. He was a hands-on dad and grandpa who never missed a kid's event. In retirement, he and Bonnie traveled to 42 countries but he most loved spending time with family at the lake cabin that he built himself. He could fix almost anything and loved working with his hands. John is survived by wife Bonnie, children Todd (Steve) Chase, Gail (Ken) Ericson and grandchildren, Brent, Jens and Tyra Ericson. A memorial gathering will be held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington on June 30 at 5:00. There will be a short service at 6:30.
