Bösl, Dr. Robert was born in Melrose, MN on May 18th, 1947 and passed away February 2, 2022. He was raised on the family farm near Sauk Centre along with his seven siblings where he developed his work ethic milking cows and doing chores in the morning before school. He graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1965. He served in Vietnam from 1967-1969 as an Army Air Medic and received multiple commendations for his service, including a purple heart. He attended the University of MN, earning a degree in Biometry and a Doctor of Medicine. He completed his residency at Methodist Hospital in 1981. He also served as associate faculty for the Medical School for many years. In 2014, he was awarded The Distinguished Alumni Award from the Medical School. Dr. Bosl practiced family medicine in Starbuck from 1982 to 2016. He was active in the Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians. In 2020, he was appointed to the State Advisory Council on Mental Health. Additionally, he was named the Minnesota Family Physician of the Year in 1994 and in 2013 was named Country Doctor of the Year. He was a passionate advocate for rural health care, and it was his joy to be a small-town Doctor. In 1971, he married Vickie Savage and in 1981, they moved to Starbuck where they raised their four children. He was active with the Lions club and volunteered for Starbuck and Minnewaska sports teams for over 25 years. Bob enjoyed time with family and watching his kids and grandkids participate in sports. He was an avid reader, and always ready to share a joke or discuss some obscure arcana. He enjoyed golfing and playing basketball. But his fun was working outdoors, driving his tractors, and cutting down trees. Robert is survived by Vickie Bösl (Savage) his wife of 50 years, Children Anne (Jason) Major, Andrew (Ellen) Bösl, Amber (Travis) Van Vickle, Grand Children Hayley, Hannah, and Jack Major, Nolan, and Elise Bösl, and Honora Van Vickle, Siblings Marina Bahmer (Larry Morrel), Tom (Diane) Bösl, Anita Kerfeld (Hank Stankiewicz), Jim (Diane) Bösl, Patricia (Steve) Westad, Susan Hollingsworth, John (Debi) Bösl. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Marie Bösl, son Aaron Bösl, and infant siblings Josephine and Mary Bösl. His life was spent in the service and care of people in his community.
