Lempke, David Richard "Dick" October 8, 1947 - September 29, 2021 Forever loved by wife of 27 years, Joanne, children Kirsten (Erik), Eric (Jen), Billie Riemer (Michael), Kyle Sweet (Kim), grandchildren Devyn (Josh), Adelle, Henry, Quinn, Ty, Evelyn, Kaelynn, Avianna, Elouise, and former spouse Mary Lempke. Dick was a 1965 graduate of Bloomington High School and attended the University of Minnesota. Not only was Dick an avid snow skier and golfer, he also loved his tennis for many years, including high school as a Minnesota State Champion qualifier. Naturally, Dick was a life-long Minnesota sports fan. As a true Minnesotan, Dick's strong work ethic began at the age of 13 when he picked up rocks at Buck Hill just to earn a free pass for the season. Little did he know that he would soon be an employee and later its General Manager. After 32 years at Buck Hill, Dick moved to Afton Alps to manage multiple ski areas and a golf course for 19 years. Dick's work career concluded when he orchestrated the sale of Afton Alps to Vail Resorts, and Dick officially retired. When he wasn't enjoying various poker groups, he was golfing with Joanne or spending winters on the Gulf in Bonita Beach, FL. And of course, beer. Always beer. Ever the people person, Dick enjoyed talking with anyone on any subject at any time. Hence it makes sense he wanted a casual, yet very social Celebration of Life. Please join his family to share memories, laughter, and lots of conversation on Monday, October 11 from 4-8 pm at Brackett's Crossing Country Club, 17976 Judicial Road, Lakeville. Food and drink will be hosted, as well as beer, always beer. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
