Speake, Lane Marie (Helms) age 66, of NE Minneapolis, passed away on September 7th. She grew up near Grand Forks, ND. She attended UND in Grand Forks and graduated from Winona State College. She worked for 21 years at Berkley Risk Administrators as a Litigation Specialist and retired in 2013. Lane leaves behind her husband Bill, sons Andy and Matt Speake, brother Robert Helms, mother-in-law Eleanor Speake, sisters-in-law Beverly and Barbara Speake, many cousins and cousins-in-law and their families, and 3 cats. Also remaining are friends from her profession, church friends and caregivers from Eastside Day Spot and Catholic Eldercare by Day. In her better health years she took many motorcycle trips (passenger) and thanks to our 2 sons we took a trip of a lifetime to Great Britain in 2017. Lane participated in the annual Walk To End Alzheimers and to find the first survivor. But we all knew, including Lane, that it wouldn't be her. In her final act of giving, she was an organ donor, giving 2 people a chance for more life. A joyous Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 9th at Grace Lutheran Church, 1500 6th st NE, Minneapolis (former Holland School) Visitation 11am service noon followed by refreshments and more visitation. Memorials will be forwarded to Fight Against Alzheimers, local Animal Humane Society or cause of your choice.
