Ryti, Barbara Ellen (Heath)

Barb passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Providence Place in Minneapolis at the age of 66.

A lifelong resident of the Twin Cities, Barb attended Washburn High School, the University of Minnesota and St. Catherine's University. Her working life and career were devoted to the service of others, providing assistance with housing, finances, health care, and transportation for clients of various agencies serving vulnerable populations. Most recently she worked in the Community Involvement Program (now Accord) and throughtout her time of service she maintained her open heart and loving concern in her approach - listening to and assisting her clients with whatever their needs might be.

In her personal life, Barb was thoughtful, loving, flamboyant, and fun. She loved music above all and was a wonderful singer, performing as a soprano soloist and as a member of various choral groups throughout her life.

Her beautiful singing voice, her laughter, her sarcastic sense of humor, and her loving presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her and especially by the family who survives her; Sisters - Mary M. Heath and Christine Heath Smiley. Brother-In-Law - Tom Smiley. Nieces and Nephews - Laura Karwoski, Jere Hall, Tom Smiley, and Libby Smiley and their children (her 6 grand nieces and nephews).  Her Aunt Ellen Leadem and cousins Deb and Mary mourn her loss as well.

Barb was preceded in death by her mother, Arlaine Nyhus Heath, and her father, Robert T. (Ted) Heath. Services will be private. Memorials preferred to the SPCA in honor of Barbi and Tedi.

Thanks to the staff who cared for her with gentle affection at Providence Place. And thanks to her dear friend Scott, who was so helpful and supportive to Barb and her family through this difficult transition for us all.
