Erickson, Ellen Age 85, of Minneapolis, passed in peace on 9/4/2021. Ellen was born in 1935 to Maria and Alois Kapsreiter of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. They preceded her in death. Ellen was born on the eve of World War II. Americans and their culture present in Germany after the war ultimately led her to Minnesota, where she worked for Northwestern Bank. She met husband David while working at Remington-Rand. When their two sons were school-aged, Ellen began a new career with Minneapolis Public Schools, where she worked for over thirty years as an Educational Assistant in various capacities. It was a common occurrence for her to be recognized (and hugged) by students she worked with years before. Ellen took her children all over the Twin Cities by bus and bicycle - city lakes, museums, movie theaters, zoos. She was a proud naturalized citizen of the United States, and loved nothing more than being productive at work and welcoming in her home. Many are the friends brought home by Shawn and Scott, who were not allowed to leave the house without being fed! She was a breast cancer survivor and continued to work and care for her family during her treatment. Ellen is survived by husband David, sons Shawn (Barb) and Scott (Rachel), and grandchildren Maxwell and Mason. In lieu of memorials, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society.
